For Residents Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Gas

Gas was shut off

Gas meters are equipped with a safety function that shuts off gas automatically when it detects an abnormality, such as an earthquake. It may be resumed with the recovery operation shown in the instruction manual provided by the gas supplier.
If you smell gas or suspect a leak, do not attempt to resume the gas supply and contact the gas company.

■An example of a resetting procedure:
①Close all the gas valves in your unit.
②Push the “reset button” on the meter.
③Open the valves after 3 minutes.

The gas meter is usually located outside, around the building. In a reinforced concrete building, the meter may be located inside the metal door next to your apartment entrance, or the door is on the corridor wall. If you are unable to resume your gas supply, please contact your gas supplier. You can find the contact information in the document called “Sumairu information (住まいるインフォメーション)” which you received upon moving in, or “Housing Information (住まいの情報)” on the smartphone app “ruum.”

Or, contact Daito Kentaku Customer Support Center.
