What are Deposit and Key Money?

These are kinds of initial fees when signing a lease contract.

■Deposit
This is a Security Deposit for apartment repairs and unpaid rent. If there is "no unpaid rent" or "no damage (intentional/negligent), for your apartment," the deposit would be refunded. However, the repair fees should be deducted from the security deposit if repairs or extra cleanings are needed.
If the repair costs exceed the security deposit, an additional charge may apply.

*We, Daito Kentaku Group, provide some apartments which require "no security deposit," just a "fixed cleaning fee." To search a new apartment, please contact E-heya net by Daito Kentaku Leasing.

■Key Money

In some apartments, a “key money” is paid by the tenant to the landlord/owner at the time of signing the contract to show an appreciation for accepting the application. It is usually one to two months' rent when it is required. Due to the nature of the fee as a thank you, it is not refundable upon moving out.
